I'm a Red Crayon!!!

I have to admit - this fits!!! What do you think???

You Are a Red Crayon
Your world is colored with bright, vivid, wild colors. You have a deep, complex personality - and you are always expressing something about yourself.Bold and dominant, you are a natural leader. You have an energy that is intense... and sometimes overwhelming.Your reaction to everything tends to be strong. You are the master of love-hate relationships.
Your color wheel opposite is green. Green people are way too mellow to understand what drives your energy.

So Fun, So Easy, So Cheap!

In my advanced sewing class at college - yes I know, sewing, but I'll have you know I do have to take TWO chemistry classes for my degree and the only thing getting me through it is the cute tutors at the tutoring center! Any how, we recently had to make recycled pillow cases/covers. I fell in love with this project, and I went a little bit above and beyond by making three pillows. First I went to DI and found two XL men's shirts (and a way cute skirt for me!) and cut them down to fit the pillows, had to add a decorative trim, sewed around them, and wa la I was done. Now to put the pillow in you just unbutton the shirt and slip the pillow inside. Now with the buttons showing you have a decorative pillow! I made two for my couches, and one for my bed. I don't really care for the one on my bed, that was one of my old pink dress shirts now converted into a pillow. How fun is that? I love sewing, yet ask me that in a week when I start working on my dress project - gads!!!

It's a FREAKING Blizzard here...

This is on the back porch - you can't even see the mountains...Believe it or not I think I'm actually liking this kind of weather, or maybe now I'm just use to it! Even driving home in this blizzard I took my time, and I pumped the breaks so I wouldn't slide all over the place! I'm just growing leaps and bounds. Maybe I can live in Alaska all year round??? NOT!

Season 2

Cash ordered Dr. Quinn Medicine Woman, Season 2, last night from Amazon, so we are just both anticipating it's arrival! He decided that he wanted to take his time ordering the seasons and kind of drag it out. I tried to convince him to just order all of them at once. Not only would it save him money, but then he would have all of them! He didn't want too. I shouldn't complain I'm not the one buying them, I'm just the one who gets to enjoy them when they get here. Oh how did I ever get sucked into this show??? Go ahead poke fun, but when it comes down to it all this show has such good values and morals that it almost makes me a better person by watching it! Not only that, but Sully is so dreamy...even in that "Last of the Mohican's" get up he wears on the show...I still am trying to figure out what his occupation is in the town!!!

A New Favorite FOOD!

I just found this recipe the other day online and tried it out with dinner. Oh my goodness - it is so good! I figured since everyone seems to be on a food kick, myself for sure, I would post this new favorite recipe. The only problem, after trying this new recipe that I will tell you about shortly...I have been telling everyone, and everyone that I am telling doesn't like sweet potatoes. Hopefully you will like sweet potatoes and give this recipe a try. This recipe is not a "sweet" dish, it is the exact opposite, oh but it's a tasty one! It is so quick and easy, and makes a nice side dish for about any meal. Not only that, but I hear that sweet potatoes are a lot healthier for you than potatoes. I just love the color that they are, and I am all about making a meal very colorful when I cook!

Sweet Potato Dish
3 Large Sweet potatoes peeled and cut in to 1 inch squares.
2T. EVOO (Extra Virgin Olive Oil) or regular oil.
Dash of garlic salt
Dash of pepper
Dash of oregano
1 half large white onion diced. (optional)
1 clove of garlic. (optional)

In 9X13 pan place EVOO then toss in cut sweet potatoes mix together so sweet potatoes get coated with the oil. Then toss in onion, garlic, and sprinkle with garlic salt, oregano, and pepper. Bake at 350 for about 60 minutes or until potatoes are soft. Then enjoy this bright and tasty side dish! Goes great with chicken!

I'm Changing My Major

Listen up Muggles - I want to become a Wizard! I recently just finished, for the first time ever, the very first Harry Potter book. Soon after finishing it I rented the movie...and that is a whole other blog! After watching the movie and reading the book I am now sucked in to all this wizard and magic stuff! I even want to go to Hogwarts School of Magic!!! Wouldn't that be so fun! I think that Hermime and I could be BFF!!! Not only that, but I would be totally crushing on Harry, and can only hope that he would accompany me to any dance the school will hold. Liberty Potter - has a nice ring to it. Well that is my life changing news that I have. I'm off to read the second book of Harry Potter and then I get to watch the movie. How exciting for me!

The Votes Are In

As most of you don't really care Jane Seymour does have one brown eye and one green eye. It is known as a condition called, Heterochromia. In fact, there are actually numerous movie stars that have this condition. David Bowie, Dan Aykroyd, Kiefer Sutherland, and Christopher Walken. There you have it! I know everyone has just been dying to know the results. Thanks for voting, and stay tuned for another one of my odd yet fun filled poll!

I'm so excited! Yesterday I had a phone interview with Princess Cruises and they asked me to come back and work for them another summer tour guiding on the trains. I'm going back to Alaska again! I start May 5th, 2008 and am already starting to plan our (Jessie is coming along for the ride...anyone else who wants to drive up is welcome to come with us???) long drive to Alaska - what an adventure. I'm so excited - is it May yet!!! Let the count down begin!

I am NOT meant to live in the SNOW!

On Monday we woke up to a butt load of all this white stuff everywhere! I'm not one meant to live in this kind of condition! Snow and I are like oil and vinegar...we don't mix. I did however get up fairly early to get my car cleaned off and warmed up before I left for school. I didn't however plan for the drive into Cedar. I thought for sure that the main roads would be clear like Main St. in Cedar City. Not so...as I am getting off the freeway I hit some ice, and as I'm breaking because I don't know what else to do...I had to steer right to avoid hitting the truck in front of me. I didn't even have to exercise for the day (but I did) because that five feet of sliding got my heart pumping some major blood! Not that it would really matter if I had ran into that truck in front of me...my car already has a huge dent on the back bumper. After that I drove like a snail the rest of the day! As soon as I finish school I'm out of here - I'm heading as far south...Vegas is sounding better and better to me each day!

2007 in Review

January: Flew back to South Carolina to pick up Barbara a dear family friend and drove back to Utah. Making some wonderful stops along the way: North Carolina went to the Biltmore Mansion, drove right through Tennessee, Kentucky stopped and saw some dear families from my mission, Stopped in Indiana to get the car looked at, Got stuck in Illinois (Nauvoo) and didn't even get to do a session at the temple because they were closed because of the weather for two days, Struggled to get through Missouri and stayed the night in the huge city of Kansas City, finally in Kansas the sun started to shine once again and we stopped in Oklahoma City to take a moment and remember the bombing that took place, off to Amarillo Texas to stay the night, ate some lunch the next day in New Mexico, bought some turquoise, followed route 66, stayed in Flagstaff, stopped to see the dam at Lake Powell and then drove in to St. George and I have never been so happy to see the warm desert after traveling through a horrible ice storm in Illinois and Missouri! Another random tid bit...My car got hit for the first time - it was parked and got ran into!

Februrary: The month flew by with phone interviews for a job as a tour guide in Alaska.

March: Went to SLC to have a personal interview for the tour guide position. My car got hit a second time being parked!

April: Prepared for my roommate of two years wedding to Sam a young man that I went on a blind date four years previous. I also packed up all my junk and stored it in a storage unit so I could move to Alaska. Got my car fixed again and had an awesome ride for a week in a 2007 bright red Ford Mustang - gas guzzler! Said goodbye to my awesome job working at SunRiver and was given a helicopter ride over the City of St. George as my goodbye.

May: Started working as a tour guide and absolutley loving my job!

June: Went fishing in Alaska and caught two halibut and five rock fish!

July: Turned 27 - can I say 27 and SINGLE...and of course loving life!

August: Returned back to Utah and started school at SUU, moved in with Cash and began a two month process of painting!!! Was also welcomed back to SunRiver working on Saturdays in the Sales Office.

September: Went on my first Cruise from L.A. to Mexico - had some sea sickness but will for sure be prepared for my next cruise in October of 2008! Went to the L.A. Temple and got denyed...but later was welcomed in (due to the new recommend system)!

October: Recieved the sad news that I wouldn't be able to graduate with the degree that I have been shooting for - had my major change to Home Economics Teacher and feel pretty good about things.

November: Had a wonderful Thanksgiving surrounded by family and continued trucking through school. Finished most of the painting in Cash's house.

December: Survivied school - the week of finals my car got hit a third time...this time it was actually my fault! I backed into an on coming car - no worries no one was hurt! (I need to share this: the moment I got hit and got back in my car I called my mom...the first thing she say's to me, "Well was the guy you hit attractive???" NO MOM! I could've been killed and that's all you care about...the guy was old enough to be my dad! Thanks Mom!) Celebrated this Christmas Season surrounded by my wonderful family and extended family. Couldn't ask for a better ending to a busy year!

Bring it on 2008 - I'm ready for you!!!

Dr. Quinn Medicine Woman

At Christmas Cash received his most favorite gift of all - The first season of Dr. Quinn Medicine Woman. At first I thought how funny - who asks for this for Christmas??? Cash was so excited to receive this first season and began watching that very day! I of course sat back and poked fun at the whole thing. But as the days went by I found myself sucked into the wonderful show. I began watching from the pilot and couldn't stop, and now have to stop because Cash only owns the first season. One thing that I have noticed in watching the show is Jane Seymour's (Dr. Quinn) eyes. It seems to me that she has one green eye and one brown eye. It gets me frustrated watching the show because sometimes I can tell and other times I can't tell. I guess I will have to try to "Google" it and see what I can find out.

Anyone who is looking for some good TV watching rent Dr. Quinn or find your local TV channel that shows this good clean, family oriented show. Here's a little bit of info for you - One season of this show costs almost $80.00 and for the entire complete set (seasons 1-6) you can get it for $235.00.

Isn't Sully Dreamy...okay, okay he has definitely grown on me, and I wish already that him and Dr. Quinn would KISS!!! How long are they going to drag out their hidden love for each other???

My Journey with the Salad Spinner

Santa was so nice to bring me exactly what I wanted this year! As my Mom (working for Santa) asked me what I would like, I told her to tell him (Santa) that I wanted a KitchenAid Salad Spinner. I previously have owned a cheap Wal-Mart brand salad spinner that sounds like Australian Folk out in the "Bush" every time I spin it. (Ever seen Crocodile Dundee???) Needless to say that Wal-Mart Salad Spinner has done good for me, and I was able to get my $3.00 use out of it, but it was time to upgrade to a nicer and better salad spinner! About a week after Christmas I put this KitchenAid Spinner to use and can I just say WOW! Not only are my salads ten times better than normal, but they are now COMPLETELY DRY - the lettuce is so crisp and crunchy, gosh it's making my mouth water just typing this up! If anyone is in the market for a salad spinner go with the KitchenAid brand...it may cost more money, but golly it's SO worth it in the end result! Plus if you make salads as much as I do then you will for sure get your money's worth! One more thing - even after you are done spinning your salad you can use the bowl to store your salad!!! My Wal-Mart brand never did that!
