We Are Eloping...TO VEGAS!!!
I AM SO EXCITED!!!! When you are in LOVE, you are in LOVE! We have had such a hard time keeping from kissing each other. (Seriously, who makes rules about waiting until over the alter???) As we were up late last night talking into the twilight we decided that since our love is for real we are going to just go with it and head to Vegas, and elope. Sealing the Deal!!! Our parents are SO happy for us. My parents actually couldn't be happier because my Mommy never really wanted to do a big wedding. It's going to be my parents and Trent's parents in attendance, and we decided to go to the Vegas Temple. We already called and set everything up. I know this is all so sudden and we don't have a lot of things ready to go. My brother is going to let us live with him the rest of the semester and then we will move into our own place. Oh my gosh I am just so gitty and excited. I can't believe this all happening so fast. I'm sure you all are just as surprised as me. But, it has just been mind bending how things have just fallen into place and seem so right. I wish that you all could be there tomorrow, April 1, 2011 on this special day for the two of us. Soon after the semester is over we will have a reception and you can join in with our happiness.

I Finally Found Someone!
There is an older song written by Bryan Adams and Barbara Streisand;
I finally found someone that knocks me off my feet.
I finally found the one that makes me feel complete.
It started over coffee, we started out as friends.
It's funny how from simple things, the best things begin.
I have been really hesitant to post about this matter of the heart - but this romance I am in is becoming official. We met some time ago, and what started as friends has blossomed into what I want to call the perfect (for me) relationship. We still haven't shared our undying love with our parents yet, but I figured this would be the best way to put it out there that I am actually seeing someone. Can you believe that I have been so good to keep this relationship under wraps. I'm pretty impressed and amazed with myself too. There has been a few close calls when I almost spilled the beans that I was dating/seeing someone, but I played it cool and nobody found out.
As I said, we met a time ago, we were in a math class together last semester and spent a lot of our time in the tutoring center. It just happened that we were always in the tutoring center at the right time. Nothing really sparked during our tutoring days, but we ran into each other about a month ago, talked and decided to go to dinner since we were outside in the parking lot talking into the evening. Dinner with him was superb, that is when the sparks really started to fly. Literally, the connection between us is phenomenal. After our dinner we finally exchanged phone numbers, from then on every day he calls and we talk for hours at a time. (We are actually going to my mission reunion together - kind of nervous cause that will be the first time I am showing him off!) I know you want to know a little more about him. He is three years younger than me (I know - the age, but I'm okay with it), he still has two more years here at SUU then he's off to get his masters degree. He's hoping to get an MBA at the University of Utah when he finishes here. He comes from a small town here in Utah known as Ephraim, Utah. And lastly the eye color. I know you have all been dying to know what color of eyes he has, well they are kind of blue! Once again, I'm okay with that. How can I forget, his name is Trent. We almost kissed the other night, but as we were about to lock lips he put his hand to my lips and said, "I really, really, really like you, and think that you are such a very special person to me. But, I want to wait until I'm over the alter with you to seal my love with a kiss." Talk about making my heart skip a beat!
I know this has been hard for me to keep to my self, and I have wanted to share this with so many of my close family and friends. But, now it's out in the open. It's officially OFFICIAL!
Collin Raye say's it well;
One boy, one girl, two hearts beating wildly.
To put it mildly it was love at first sight.
He smiled, she smiled, and they knew right away,
This was the day they'd waited for all their lives.
And for a moment the whole world revolved,
Around one boy and one girl.
I finally found someone that knocks me off my feet.
I finally found the one that makes me feel complete.
It started over coffee, we started out as friends.

Busy Spring Break
MinDee got to see her favorite TV show "Pawn Stars" |
Welcome to Vegas Baby! |
We got TWO TICKETS TO LION KING!!! |
Eating lots - especially desserts, yum! |
That morning after a not very long "sleep in" we were up and getting ready. We headed out to do more shopping and eating. I know, we like to live it up in Vegas! We found a new shopping center south of the strip and decided to check it out. What we found was the cutest little shops, parks, and restaurants. First order of business - eating! We ate at this cozy Italian bistro. Had a great meal, and ended the meal with a fabulous array of desserts. After our lunch we looked around some and then it was off to our show, The Lion King. MinDee had gotten cheap tickets from a mutual friend of ours and was so excited to go see it. I was okay with seeing it, but I ended up loving it and almost teared up a few times. It was pretty amazing to watch, and I totally recommend anyone to go see it. After the show it was off to a little bit more shopping and eating...eating at Ruby Tuesday. I know, really? Yes really! It was a free meal and you know I don't complain about those. ;)
Vegas was a fun little get away just down the road from us here in Utah. I hope we can make this a tradition of a "girls weekend" once a year! The fun didn't last long enough because once the weekend was over it was back to reality. I had a 10k race we had signed up for. What were we thinking. Ha! Jessie, and I have actually been hitting the gym pretty faithfully since January (a New Years resolution). Jessie has been doing an awesome job. We decided that if we were going to be going to the gym weekly then we should set another goal that would have us work towards something, so we signed up for the Spectrum 10k. MinDee and I had done it once before a few years back, so I got MinDee to sign up with us too. Saturday morning arrived, and we ran the beautiful scenic Snow Canyon Park. It ended at the church down the street from my parents. I improved my time this year, and it even inspired me to get back into these little races. Not sure if I will do the big stuff like a half marathon, but I sure do like these 5 and 10k's. If you want to read more Jessie has posted on her blog, here.

Dear Hollywood, Thank You For Making Some Good Movies!
Dearest Hollywood,
I want to thank you for the recent stream of movies you have been producing. I just spent the majority of my spring break watching movies (THROUGH NETFLIX, OF COURSE). I happened to time my Netflix just right, and was able to send out movies and get movies practically back to back. Oh yeah, I totally have the system down for Netflix. But Hollywood, I'm not here to testify and praise Netflix, I'm here to praise you on your array of great movies recently. Where do I begin? I don't really get out often to see movies in the theater because I am usually disturbed by obnoxious kids and adults. However, my friend Lisa and I ventured out one lonely Friday night, at the spur of the moment, to go see the recent Adam Sandler movie, "Just Go With It." Once upon a time I was a major Adam Sandler fan, (was a teen in high school and Adam was totally COOL!) I even wanted to have his babies! I know, crazy?!?!? So Lisa and I went and saw "Just Go With It" and yes, I was a little hesitant because the last Adam Sandler movie that I saw, "Grownups" was so LAME to me. Such a waste of time. But, I tried not to judge, and we went and saw. Oh MY GOSH how good was this movie, SO GOOD! I haven't laughed so hard in a movie in a really, really, really long time! Of course there was one of those scenes that are in all of Adams movies where you are like, "really - does a human have to do something perverted to an animal?" Okay, so I looked passed that scene and loved the rest of the movie. Jennifer Aniston plays the luv interest, and because I am a fan of her I thought that she did a great job too. My recommendation - if you need a good laugh, rent this movie, or heck, if it's still in the theater go see it. Another side note, the little girl in the movie = DARLING!
Oh yes, back to you Hollywood. You have also produced some great award winning movies that I actually agree on winning Oscars this year. "The Social Network." I know the majority of people out there use that social network called Facebook. Well, you need to rent this movie and see where it all started! My bro, whom I live with, hates Facebook. I have to agree with him sometimes, but I got him to watch this movie with me, and he still hates Facebook. However, he thought it was a pretty interesting story, and was amazed, like myself, about this Harvard college drop out who is now the youngest billionaire. What the!?! If I were to be a college drop out - well that would just be plain sad. Very interesting story - totally recommend. Another award winning movie you produced Hollywood was "The Fighter." I love fighting movies like "Rocky" (only 1-5 though). I figured I would like this one as well. If you can look past the extensive "F" word out of Amy Adams mouth it's not that bad of a movie. Mark Walhberg is now my favorite hottie to walk the red carpet. YUMMY!!! Christian Bale, and Melissa Leo also won Oscars for their roles in this movie, and were well deserved, in my opinion. Melissa Leo, whom I have never heard of was also in another movie I took the time to watch called "Conviction" which is also a true story, and very inspiring. However, both these movies were a little long for my attention span, but I stayed with them and was pleased with the happy endings in both. Hollywood, I love when you make movies with happy endings - even true stories that end happily.
Okay, let's get back to more of those cheesy, romantic comedies. That is where my heart lies. During this week long movie watching I also viewed, "Going the Distance" - eh, "It's Kind of a Funny Story" - ohhhh, "The Switch" - yes and no, "Morning Glory" - another ohhhh, "Life As We Know It" - loved it, might have to buy it, "You Again" - cute, but once was a enough, and "How Do You Know" - boring, but liked the story line. "It's Kind of a Funny Story" was not really funny. It is about a young man who checks himself into a mental hospital for a week. A lot happens in one week, he realizes life is going to be hard and suicide is not the answer. There is a great rendition of the song "Under Pressure" sung by the cast - totally awesome! "The Switch" was kind of slow, but I liked the story line. And, I'm 100% in love with Jason Bateman! Gosh, he is so dreamy to me. I have to say that "The Switch" was a lot more tasteful and better than that STUPID Jennifer Lopez movie, "Back-Up Plan" - DUMB, with a capital D! "Morning Glory" was just a great feel good movie! There was a little bit of romance, but the story was more about a young woman who loved her job and loved what she was doing. It was kind of inspiring to me, and of course I teared up. The movie "Life as We Know It" was probably my most favorite movie that I have seen in a long time. I laughed, I cried, I laughed some more, and you know it, I cried some more! The two main characters are set up on a blind date several years back by their two best friends. The blind date was horrible, yet they still keep popping up in each others lives because of their best friends. The friends are married, have a baby, then die in a car crash leaving their two friends they set up on a blind date (that didn't work out) as guardians to their little girl. This movie reminded me a lot of the movie "Raising Helen" which is a movie I also love. However, the story is a little different, and of course the main male character Josh Duhamel is so nice to look at!
Well Hollywood, I now have to get back to reality and can't spend all my time watching movies back to back. But I do appreciate a lot of your recent movies, and ask that you keep producing so that people like me, who are obsessed with Netflix and movies, can continue fulfilling my life with these solid films. I look forward to the next "up and coming" new releases to hit the big screen. Until then, keep up the good work of making movies that I love and will even rent more than once on Netflix.
All my motion picture cinema love,
Libby

I May Never Graduate College, But I've Had Experience!
Each day, like clock work, I log on to MSN to read the latest news and pop culture. (And can I just say, I am so DAMN (pardon my french) SICK AND TIRED OF HEARING ABOUT CHARLIE SHEEN - WHO CARES!) Yikes, so the other day I came across an article, "4 Jobs Everyone Should Have." MSN always has great articles that are set up as lists, and I love reading lists. So, I thought I should read this article/list and see if I actually have worked the 4 jobs. Sure enough - I have. I may never graduate college, but at least I can say I have had a lot of job experiences.
A couple years back I met a man who lived in the retirement community where I worked, as a receptionist. He was a retired school teacher and principal. I told him my story and goals in life. At the time I was at the beginning of my journey with school, and going into teaching. I told him my past, and the many "life experiences" I have had. You know what he said to me. "GOOD!" "I am loving that you have had all these different jobs and experiences because they will make you a better teacher in the long run." As he was a retired principal of a high school, he did much of the hiring. He continued on to tell me that when he would look through resumes of college graduates, soon to be teachers, he was always drawn towards the graduates who had the many experiences. I'm not saying that having a lot of jobs/experiences makes everything all better, but it helps to give the future teacher more of a well rounded appeal, in MY OPINON. Yes, my resume, when I write it all up has job, after job, after job. That can't be good? However, it's not like I'm 21 years old with ten jobs under my belt - I'm 30 with ten jobs under my belt. And each job I have had is a job that I can still list, and still give out contact information when applying. Yes even my Princess Tours job! I also feel that there are people out there who have worked for the same company/business for year, after year, after year. That also is very appealing, and I believe looks really good on a resume.
What are the 4 jobs that everyone should have? Server, Retail Clerk, Customer Service, and Manual Labor. Yes, I have had all four of those jobs. Have I liked all four of those jobs - yes and no. In all my jobs, except for the manual labor job, I have had back to back customer service. I think that is why my current job, working as a flower girl - doing manual labor is because I just got tired of customer service. I somehow love the interaction with customers of all sorts, but once I get back into it I always end up saying, "Why did I take this job?" With having these 4 jobs I have learned a great deal from each one.
Let's start with being a Server. When I was a server it was a mishmash of a few jobs. Mainly I was a Tour Guide, but I also did Bar-tending, and Serving. I'm so grateful for that job in so many ways. When I go to restaurant I have great respect for my servers, cooks, hosts, etc. Even if the service is terrible I cannot walk away without leaving something behind. Having the opportunity to work as a "server" gives me compassion today whenever I go out to eat. Yes, I would take the job of a server, bar-tender, tour guide in a heartbeat. Some of my fondest memories are serving food and drinks to people. I say bring it on - I would love to work as a server again!
Being a Retail Clerk is always a fun job to have. I say, do retail in something you enjoy. My favorite retail job was working at R&K Bookstore after my mission. I loved books, loved talking to people about books, and loved the girls I worked with. (That's always a plus!) Yes, I had to deal with customer service, but 90% of the time the customer service at that store wasn't bad. The bosses wife was more of a pain then any of the customers that came in!
Customer service, I stepped into customer service right at the ripe old age of 16. My very first job (besides babysitting the neighborhood kiddos) was at the local grocery store working the video counter. How cool I thought I was at 16 - best job ever! I felt like I had to be up on every movie possible...maybe that is why I have such a love for Netflix today??? However, what an eye opening experience to the customer service world I received. Gosh people can be the biggest BEEPS! But, people can also be as sweet as pie! I met some wonderful people. Like mentioned earlier, every time I work in customer service I say that I will never ever go back, but I just love people and it keeps drawing me back.
Lastly, manual labor. I'm really digging this manual labor stuff. No pun intended. The last two summers I have worked for SUU Grounds Department. What a breath of fresh air - again, no pun intended! I love being outside, wrapped in my bib overalls, dirt all over me, screaming when a worm pops it head up to say hello, and seeing the beauty of all my hard work when the flower beds come alive! Another added bonus - no customer service, and I get to listen to books on my iPod. Life is grand - two more months and another summer awaits me.
Libby's 10 Jobs - but remember I'm 30!
1. Video Clerk - Lin's Marketplace
2. Cashier - Lin's Marketplace
3. Bank Teller - Alaska USA Credit Union
4. Missionary - Ohio Cincinnati Mission (Not sure if this counts as a job...Felt like a job as I was working like a social worker - never want to be a social worker - props to those who want to be though.)
5. Book Saleswoman - R&K Bookstore
6. Receptionist - SunRiver Development
7. Clerk - Bath and Body Works
8. Tour Guide, Server, Bartender - Princess Tours
9. Testing Assistant - SUU Testing Center
(9.5 - Gift Wrapper - Christensen's Department Store)
10. Flower Girl - SUU Grounds
I'm feeling pretty well rounded. I've done it all. Okay, so I haven't done it all. Look out world, I've got more jobs to add to my list. I'll try teaching, but I'm already thinking of other jobs, careers, and experiences I would like to have. I guess when you fail chemistry semester after semester after semester you start thinking of lot's of other career/job paths you want to take. Like being a flight attendant...that's where I should go! We all know I can handle standby flying...
Well world I'm excited to see what's in store for me next, graduating, or not!

Well world I'm excited to see what's in store for me next, graduating, or not!

It's Time For a Good Laugh
I saw this article on MSN and thought it was hilarious, and it totally made me laugh - OUT LOUD! Probably because I have heard all these sayings myself...
19 Things You Should Never Say to a Single Person
A Glamour dating blogger collected of 19 of the most-hated, tired and depressing clichés about being single. Read them, and swear never to use them on any of your single friends. Ever.
By Erin Meanley
Since we could all use a good laugh, I asked some friends and Twitter followers to send in their most hated adages. I know you've heard them all before (obviously), but I just couldn't believe how many there were! Here's a tiny compilation. Enjoy — today, they're not directed at you!
1. It happens when you're not looking.
"This is just bull. Some people find people when they're looking; some don't. You're not doing anything wrong by going out and meeting people." —Beth

4. You're too picky.
"This may be true, but it feels like I'm getting criticized for my taste, vision, and close-mindedness — when I'm already down." —Sarah

13. Wow, I wish I were single and in your shoes!

19. Sure, my guy rescues kids from abusive homes, donated my sister a kidney, and picks up fresh flowers for me daily on his way home from work, but will he QUIT IT with the sports on TV already?
"Single people just hate to be complained to about petty relationship stuff. If you do this, I'm not going to want to hang out with you. (In fact, maybe I'll call your boyfriend and ask him if he wants to grab a beer and watch the Yankees game?)" —Kim

Bottom line, if you're in a relationship or married and you don't have any specific, original advice or wisdom for your single friend—and you must use an established saying — we would prefer to hear neutral ones like, "This too shall pass" or "Take it one day at a time." They are so much more helpful and comforting — you have no idea!
Also of note: not one person I polled mentioned they were tired of hearing, "He's just not that into you." I think that's because it's not condescending. And apparently, it's not overused. So that one is still okay to say. For now.
