Flat Tire and the Law of Tithing

Aren't Monday's just wonderful? Well for me, my Monday was less than fun. It all started out at 5:30am as I head off to work. I got to work and realized I didn't have my lunch. Packed it the night before, but forgot to get it out of the fridge on my way out the door. Top it off I didn't get a weekend either; it was my turn to work Saturday and Sunday watering all the flowers at the Shakespearean Courtyard.

As lunchtime came around I decided since I'm the poorest I have been in my 29 years I would go to Wendy's and get my $1.29 (paid with change...) chili, which is pretty tasty, and very filling. As I was leaving the drive thru and was on my way back to the Grounds Dept. I started to hear this thumping noise from the back of my car. I kept driving because I was only a few blocks away when I realized my back tire was flat. Not a good thing to be driving on it, but I was so close to work I had to keep going. I made it to work, and walked into the break room to try to enjoy my lunch. One of my coworkers was in there and asked me how my day was going. At this point I slammed down in my chair to eat and said, "Horrible, it's definitely a Monday." He said, "That good?" I then continued to tell him my tire is flat, and I don't really have the money to be buying a new tire. He was kind enough to take a look at my tire, he found that I had ran over a nail. He filled my tire up and told me to take it in to Rolling Rubber, and they can patch it up.

After work I immediately drove over to Rolling Rubber to get my tire patched up. I was expecting to pay around $30.00 to get it fixed. After waiting about 15 minutes my tire was patched up, and good as new. I went to pay for the patch/labor and they said not to worry about it. I tried to fight them and pay for it but they said it wasn't a big deal.

As I left Rolling Rubber I said a quick prayer of gratitude. I know that the Lord helped me out on that fix for sure! By obeying the law of tithing the Lord has blessed me in so many different ways. Once again my testimony of tithing is being strengthened. Many times in my life I have probably spent money on things that I shouldn't (recent trip), but am trying to live the gospel and make sure that I always pay my tithing FIRST! Whenever I receive money, be it work paycheck, gifts, etc. I write out my check to the Lord first, and then take care of the rest of my worldly things second. I am SO INCREDIBLY GRATEFUL for wonderful parents who taught me at a very young age the law of tithing and the importance of paying my tithing, and the blessings that come from paying my tithing. My parents have never had much, but we always had the funds to survive and live comfortably. I am impressed by a brother who may not be the most active in church but has a strong testimony of tithing and has bore that testimony to me and others. With much faith he pays his tithing faithfully. I'm also grateful for a dear friend who has recently bore a strong testimony to me of paying fast offerings and how I have tried to pay my fast offerings faithfully the last couple of months.

It is amazing how the Lord takes care of me when I pay Him first. I am once again blown away by the Lords help that He provides for me on a daily basis. My testimony of tithing and fast offering has been strengthened once again.

Good for you Libby. I'm so sorry about your Monday though, that's the pits. But I'm glad it turned out all good in the end and that you learned so much from it all.

I totally agree with you on the great power of paying a full tithe. I'm not the best person but if there is anything that I am faithful to in this gospel it is tithing. I know that living on my own will be difficult but as long as I pay my tithing I know I will be able to survive. I say this in the name of Jesus Christ, Amen. ; P

Just goes to show that there is always good in every bad day :) although sometimes it's harder to find than others! And, I agree, isn't tithing wonderful?

I am not sure what the lesson in this is? I have always had my flat tires repaired for free.(sometimes twice in one day) I always seem to get free refills when I go out to eat too! Top that one Libbster!
